Sending and receiving problems
  1. Check for a dial tone. Lift the handset. If you hear no dial tone, check telephone line cord connections at the machine and wall jack. Check that the
handset curled cord is connected to the machine’s handset jack and not in the EXT jack.. Test the jack with another single line telephone. If no dial tone on the wall outlet, call your telephone company.
  2. Make sure the machine is in the correct receiving mode for your setup (either AUTO, FAX, FAX/TEL or TAD). This can be tricky if you have several things on the same line. Check your owner's manual for your situation.
  3. Check for error messages. Being out of paper, a paper jam and no toner or ink will prevent reception.
